Tooth Whitening.
Tooth whitening is a simple and effective treatment which is now commonplace in modern dentistry practice. Bang for buck, tooth whitening is one of the best cosmetic treatments out there.
So how does tooth whitening work? Your dentist or therapist will take moulds of your teeth and make custom fitted whitening trays. Small amounts of whitening gel are placed in the trays and worn either at night or in the day depending on which regime suits you best.
Whitening is often teamed with other treatments. For example, using the ABB protocol (Align-Bleach-Bond), we first straighten teeth, then whiten, then refine tooth shapes using composite materials. Ask your dentist if this might be suitable to give you your ideal smile.
Professional teeth whitening is safer and more effective than shop-bought whitening kits.

FAQ:
We only offer dentist-supervised home whitening treatments, which provide a safe, gradual and effective way to whiten your teeth.
We only offer home whitening treatments. This is the most effective way to whiten your teeth. The legalities surrounding concentrations of carbamide peroxide / hydrogen peroxide render in-surgery whitening less ineffective in the UK.
Tooth whitening is a gentle and gradual process. You aren’t going to see your teeth start to look like Simon Cowell with a few hours of use! (A lot of celebrities with super white teeth actually have veneers creating this appearance). You’re in control of your whitening: if you feel it’s getting too bright, just stop the process, allow a day or two to settle and review the process. You can always speak with one of our team if you have concerns.
The duration of effectiveness will vary depending on lifestyle factors (use of red wine, black coffee, smoking etc.) but, as a rule, you should top-up every 12 months or so. Top-up packs are cheap and easy to use. Please enquire with reception if you would like a kit.
No, tooth whitening will not whiten composite or ceramic materials. Depending on the nature of these factors, they may need replacing alongside whitening. Please chat with your dentist for more details.
Tooth whitening, whilst extremely safe, can cause tooth sensitivity during treatment for some people. In most people, this is easily managed. We would generally recommend starting the use of a sensitivity toothpaste (e.g. Sensodyne Pronamel) around three weeks before you start treatment. Some patients benefit from protective coatings being placed prior to treatment.
