This is a very common and understandable fear, but a well-made, bespoke denture can be extremely lifelike and difficult to identify. Did you know that around 30% of the adult population aged over 40 wear dentures? Many people wear and cope with dentures in a very discreet manner.

Dentures are not entirely fixed in place and there may be a degree of movement in use. For many people, muscular adaptation will compensate for these slight adjustments. However, denture movement can be reduced by high-level techniques and appropriate design in construction. Also, use of certain materials such as chrome can massively help keep a partial denture fixed in place. In some cases, we can employ implants to retain a denture. Not every denture is created equal! This depends on the type of denture. Partial chrome dentures rely on metal clasps resting against teeth to hold the denture in place (these can often be cleverly hidden from view). Full dentures rely on suction created by a tight seal against the tissues. In all cases, muscular adaptation and continual
wear is key.
